Okay, who all thinks that they will be able to attend the 2006 Gathering? This will help out if we kind of get an estimate. You don't have to commit to anything right now, but if you think that you might be able to be there next June, then let's hear from you!!! I will keep a list of everybody that might be able to make it. Remember, it will be the third week of June.

Love,
Kay

Saying "HELLO" to everyone!

I'm a pioneer from back in 1999, and came to that Gathering. Unfortunately, due to the increase in airline fuel, I could not plan to attend.
Wishing all of you a wonderful time, and PLEASE take lots of photos!

All the best,
Enchilada..ANN

Hi Caitlin,

Thanks for the great pictures. Your kiddies have gotten so big! Where does the time go? You and Jeff don't look a day older than the first gatherings. Way to go!

Oh Man - look at those precious wee ones!!!! Thanks for letting us see how darlin' they are. We'll miss y'all for sure too!!!!

You and Jeff look a little warm out there. Better make plans to come enjoy some cool mountain breezes in a couple of years!

Caitlin,
I didn't realize that that was your oldest; has it been that long? Come to think of it, we've had a lot of "bearing their children along the way." We had you being pregnant at your last Gathering, we had Summer who bravely trekked the slippery rocks at Chimney Rock, and Elaine of course giving us a great Gathering surprise in, was it 2000? Goodness! What blessings!
I would love to go to Tombstone someday; that is definitely on my list.
Steph

Hi Stephanie,
Hard to believe I was pregnant with my oldest when I last trekked through Chimney Rock and Table Rock! *sigh* I do believe that was my last gathering!

We only live about an hour or so from Tombstone. If you're ever in the area we could get you all gussied up!
Stephanie Posted - June 08 2006 : 10:42:15 AM
Thanks for your kind thoughts, Caitlin, and we will miss you! Love those pics... I can't believe how those bunnies are growing up. And your red dress... woohoo! How far do you live from Tombstone? That's my 2nd favorite movie; maybe we should have a Tombstone Gathering. You're a daisy if you do...
We'll try to get Gathering pics up as soon as poissible next week; stay tuned!
Steph

The airlines increased the cost of flights so much due to the insane gas prices we just aren't able to afford to fly out from AZ.

Wishing you all a splendid Gathering. We'll be thinking of you all. Keep us posted - lots of pictures! and stay safe!

Big Hugs to all my old friends, sure miss you!!!
And hello to all the new Gatherers! You are going to have the adventcha of a lifetime!

as always,
Caitlin & the gang

I'll be there! Is there a way I can order my shirt by phone/email/debit card? I procrastinated too long to get it by snailmail.

Stan and Teri,
I've been wondering what happened to you! Well I'm sorry you can't join us but congratulations on the new house! Last year this time, I was kind of glad there wasn't a Gathering because I was moving into a new house then and wouldn't have been able to make it. So, the new rule for everyone must be: please plan your life-changing and time-consuming events on the non-Gathering years (every other year) from now on.
Seriously, enjoy your new home and we look forward to seeing you next time.
Stephanie
P.S. I hope someone unties you soon.

Hello all!

Been busy but I will give it the old college try and perhaps come down for yet another Gathering but this time with my brother, Raymond. Unfortunately, Debbie has limited vacation days and our nephew, Bryan, should and probably should still be attending school. Put us down, tentatively, as two.

Hi Mike,
I think that a registration page is going to be put on the site soon that will let you know all about the lodging cost and the costs of the events. Make sure to keep checking back because it shouldn't be too much longer before all of that info is up. It will be great to meet you and Connie!!!

Love,
Kay

Deborah,
The dates that Stephanie posted are for this year. It will be June 14-18. This doesn't mean that you have to attend every single day. Some people just come for the weekend, while others stay for the whole Gathering. Just depends on circumstances. We will be staying in Asheville. I think that a page will be up soon telling more about the events and prices of everything. Sure hope that you can make it!!!

Love,
Kay

YIKES!!! SO SORRY! I'm not familiar with the BB so didn't know there were more than one page; found that later.

But, I DO need the lodging info before I determine if I'm attending; also the exact location because I'm not from the area.

I know you posted the dates in a response above, but that was last year. We need to have definite dates and location. Also, due to health issues, what type of loging will be available. I want a single room, no room mate. Could you please post the availability of lodging and prices.

This will determine if I'll attend. I really want to attend as this would be my first Gathering.

Thanks,
Deborah

Sharon, regarding t-shirt design. I like shirts with a small logo on the front and a bigger picture on the back. :)

Ariel,
First, nice to see you post on the message board! Second, congratulations on graduating! A job in library/archives is tough to find but once you find it I know you will do well. Good luck!

About the Gathering... unfortunately at this point the movie reservations cannot be changed. Dupont is done on the same day as the movie due to the relative proximity of Dupont to Hendersonville, where we rent the theater. As you may know, Rich is taking a break from overall Gathering coordinator and is instead helping out in other areas. That left a few of us other Gatherers to piece together an itinerary, and basically we decided that it was easier to follow in Rich's footsteps than to change things drastically. That's why the schedule appears a lot like it has in the past. I wish you had posted this issue earlier but at this stage in the game it's too late to change.
However, now that you have brought it up, it will certainly be considered for future Gatherings. It may be that for the next Gathering (2008??) we could schedule Dupont and the movie on a Friday instead. We will certainly consider that!
I do hope you will still join us for Gathering 2006; there just might be a few new things to check out!
Stay in touch and best wishes with your job hunt.
Stephanie

This year's Gathering will start on Weds. June 14 with a rafting trip down the Nolichucky River.
Thursday, June 15 will be Chimney Rock Park.
Friday will be a full day starting with sunrise on the Blue Ridge Parkway, then Table Rock and Linville Falls.
Saturday June 16 will be Dupont Falls and hopefully the movie!
Sunday is in question right now... we're working on it!
That's a rough outline of the dates with some minor tweaking still to occur.
We have not started registration yet pending the plans for that Sunday, but registration will begin in the next couple of weeks or so. Keep checking the website for more announcements!

Hi all! This is Ariel Segal. I have now graduated! I am working on 2 part-time jobs
as I search for a full time library/archives job. I might be able to make it to the Gathering.
However, I was wondering about 2 things. Firstly, I have never been to Dupont Falls before, and I have never seen the movie with everyone else before....because
the Jewish Sabbath (Saturday) is when those activities usually take place. I noticed that they are scheduled to take place on Saturday again. As those are two of the only
activities that I have not yet done...it is quite possible that my coming depends on whether
it is possible to switch those activities to Sunday this late in the game.

I HATE to ask
such a major favor, but I would deeply love to be able to share Dupont and the
movie itself with the Gatherers!! Anyhow, I hope everyone is doing well.

Sincerely, Ariel Segal

P.S. My girlfriend and I are planning to see _Christmas in the Clouds_ , the Native American romantic comedy, before she leaves for Israel for 4 months. Wes has a cameo as himself as a bingo announcer! Has anyone here seen it? It came out in 2001, but wasn't
distributed to Washington until now

Could someone tell me how do I find out info about the 2006 mohican gathering? How much is it? When is it? etc.
Stephanie Posted - January 22 2006 : 4:48:11 PM
Del,
Glad you are going to be at this Gathering! I emailed you the dates, but to clarify for others I will post it here as well. The following is a proposed itinerary, still subject to a change or two but this is the gist of it:

Weds. June 14: Rafting on the Nolichucky River. This event is first because there are several who do not wish to participate in this event and this allows them to arrive a day later than others, if they wish.

Thursday, June 15: Most likely will be Chimney Rock Park and then Spirits on the River for dinner. We have not scheduled big-name entertainment this year in order to help keep costs down.

Friday, June 16: Sunrise on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Linville Falls, and Table Rock. Soldier #2 will be on-hand to provide stories and anecdotes about his experiences with the filming in those areas!

Saturday, June 17: Dupont Falls and the Movie (pending)

Sunday, June 18:??? Mohican Games? Without a Games coordinator, this event will be cancelled. Any suggestions for a replacement event are welcome.

So far, that's it! Again, this is a rough draft but will be finalized very soon.
Steph
