O.K., lets get back to discussing the movie.

Duncan enquires as to the situation at the fort shortly after Cora & Alice have gone off with Mr. Phelps. Munro tells him that the French are digging 30 yards of trench a day and "when they are within 200 yards they'll lob explosive rounds over our walls and pound us to dust".

Duncan then says that "they looked to be 300 yards out, if they are digging 30 yards a day you have three days".

It is also shortly thereafter determined that "Webb could have reinforcements here the day after tomorrow".

Now, as far as I am aware (and I may well be wrong, so please do correct me) the events between the arrival at the fort and the capture of Hawkeye by the British all happened in one night. Cora comes to see him the following day, and note that the mortars are used THAT VERY NIGHT! This means that the French somehow managed to do one of the following:

1). Dig 100 yards of trench in one day,
2). Fire the mortar rounds accurately at 270 yards,
3). Fool Duncan (some would say that this would not be difficult).

If none of these is the case, is this a discrepancy in movie? The message from Webb arrives the following day right on que (the day after tommorow), and the parlay scene occurs.

Hope that this keeps you happy, and back to what we enjoy the most - learning more about our favourite movie. I'd love to hear everyone's opinions and view on this.

Yours - as always,

Neuromancer
