I agree, Donnie. I think the most likely explanation is simply that we can't tell how much time is actually elapsing during the events at the fort. (Remember we discussed this once when trying to determine what was going on on the ramparts with Cora & Hawkeye, and when Hawkeye could have been helping the Colonials make their getaway.) I think more time passes than we might realize.
