My MM letter will go out tomorrow.

This really should have gone with some other posts that seem to have have gone away.

One of the things that I didn't like in the original which still got carried though in the film was Alice's insanity. I thought if you're going to revise some things at least it could have been translated as her being a hysterical 16 year old whose undergone a massive reality check. This would have also been translated for her just naturally turning to this capable great looking guy but not her somehow going nuts (some people just don't like caves) and doing "it" because she's out of control.

Also, because we know that racism was the basis for how it was approached in the book, this kinda translates into the film in a weird way. By keeping in Alice's insanity it looks as though for a deeper realtionship to happen between the two and who they are racially, Alice had to go insane. This dosen't sit too well with me so I'm glad they left the scene in the cave out for this reason. I guess it was too late to add any clarifying bonding to have occurred along the way to help add to the poingnancy(sp?) of him getting killed trying to save her.
