Not to dwell on the gruesome, but battles do make good movies. In September of 1758 Bouquet was sent on ahead to try and take Fort Duquesne but was stuck at Loyalhannon. Grant asked permission to take Rangers, Highlanders, a company of Royal Americans and others on to try and harass the Fort which they approached at daybreak with pipers and drums. This alerted the Indians and a huge battle/massacre followed with hundreds killed and taken captive, including Grant (eventually ransomed to fight better during the Revolution). The Highlanders heads were put up on poles with their tartans as flags beneath. It was another amazing clash between English, French, colonists, Indians and Highlanders. C.F. Post had to pass by these souveniers on his way to negotiate peace with the Indians in preparation for the Easton Treaty, after which the remaining captive Highlanders and women from Bullitts camp were allowed to return out of the forest from the Indian towns. I'm sure Shingas was there, a great role for Studi.

Keep up the good work Rich & Elaine.
