There's no need to apologize, this thread is to help for a better understanding through respectful discussion. Besides, I wasn't pointing you out specifically, the comment about understanding Eric's negativity was made by others as well.

I agree this issue is an emotionally touchy subject, I hope we can all debate this issue amicably...:)

: Not at all. I was one who made that comment, and I wasn't thinking in those terms - I'm sorry if I conveyed that. I think it's just plain human to feel compassion for one's group, and when that group's history is one of oppression and genocide, one might justifiably feel outrage, as I think, from reading his words, he does (this is an assumption, since all I know of him is what I've read). My 'common sense' tells me that some of the emotion behind his statements stems from this outrage at the historical treatment of Indians, which goes back not just a couple generations, but hundreds of years.

So I agree with you when you say, "He's speaking against injustices he's seen in his own life..." but I would add that he's probably expressing (between the lines in this particular interview) outrage at the abuse he received as a boy. Again, these are assumptions, but I think they make sense.
