I was able to see the DDL interview last night, and though it was short (maybe 15 minutes compared to the first guest's 35 or so) it was very well done. In my opinion, Daniel speaks in a very articulate and interesting manner. He seemed open and friendly, and not at all reserved, but yet not "full of himself." They spoke almost exclusively about The Boxer, and Jim Sheridan (the director) was also interviewed. The movie looks like it could be very interesting, and Daniel waxed poetic about the sport of boxing (urk!) which he insisted is a thing of beauty if done correctly, and a thing of terrible brutality if done badly. Sheridan and DDL apparently had differences of opinion during filming as to whether the romance should be the focal point of the story, DDL arguing that the focus should rather be about the character (Danny) "finding" himself after spending 14 years in prison.

As for Daniel's appearance...all I can say is, I WANT MY HAWKEYE BACK!! I'll never get used to the short haircut, though I guess it looks as good on him as it does on anyone. (I just prefer my men with long hair!) He has obviously bulked up a LOT for this part, and I'm not crazy about that, either. I loved the long, lean look of his face in Mohicans, I guess. (Actually, I prefer my men SKINNY and with long hair!) There will be a lot of gals who like his new, beefier look, but I'll just keep watching LOM for my fantasies. I DO look forward to the film, though, as I've never seen a DDL film I didn't love. (Except for The Unbearable Lightness of Being, which I TRIED to love, but ended up referring to as the Unbearable Longness of Movie!)

That about sums up my take on the interview...hope some others will post their feelings & impressions, too.

Marcia
