If someone's man was about to jump off of a waterfall, possibly to his death, leaving his woman to be captured or possibly killed by Magua's band, what should he say? "I hope you will remain alive because I intend to find you." I think not.

: That's just my opinion. I could be wrong - what do you think?

Georgette,
Your opinions are ALWAYS on the money! :)
Your alternative to a good one-liner says it all. And what should Cora have replied with? "Yes, I remain hopeful that you intend to find me, Mr. Poe. But if some misfortune should occur to either one of us, then, of course, you will not be able to find me. Alas! Do not despair, Mr. Poe, for if one of us does indeed meet a gruesome death, either by rock or tomahawk, then the survivor shall keep the
memory of the deceased alive. But I really do hope you make it, Mr. Poe! For I am a mere swooning woman and I feel quite sure I will need your assistance." Not quite the same impact...
Thanks, Georgette!
