Hi, Gretchen! I just finished reading this before Christmas (working on Midnight In the Garden of Good & Evil now), and I loved it. I was glad to see it listed in the new BookStore here on this site. If you haven't checked out the Bookstore, do so as soon as you can. Rich & Elaine have done it again!

But, Gretchen, alas...too late for Michael Mann to make your envisioned film. Anthony Minghella has beaten him to it...he contracted (bought?) the film last year and I'm eagerly awaiting news on the casting. (In case you aren't familiar with Anthony Minghella, he directed The English Patient, a feast for the eyes and the soul, so I have high hopes he'll do something equally splended with Cold Mountain.) I agree it would be marvelous to see Daniel Day-Lewis & Madeleine Stowe once again surrounded by the North Carolina mountains...I can see them doing justice to the parts, too.

Marcia
