: Well, I think it's safe to say that we all agree - Alice is the most tragic character in LOTM. Also topping the list of heart-breaking scenes has got to be when Cora realizes that she's lost her sister. The look on her face that goes from momentary denial to horrified comprehension and grief - pretty powerful. To lose a father, a sister and a friend in a matter of a day - good thing she has Nathaniel!
: I think the line that really goes to the core of Nathaniel & Cora's love is when she tells him "If the worst happens, if only one of us survives, something of the other does too!"
