: The hike of Chimney Rock is really not that tough

Joy is 100% correct on this. EVERYONE, unless you really are in a wheelchair, should put aside their fears of this mild trek and just DO IT! As one who has backpacked (years ago) down into the Grand Canyon & high atop the crest of the Rockies, I can attest to the fact that this pales in comparison, as far as degree of difficulty goes. As previously mentioned by others, even if you really felt you couldn't make it (and you CAN!), there is much splendor in The Park to enjoy. But, really, I can't imagine being in that place and NOT walking in the path of Magua & Cora & Alice & Hawkeye & Uncas & Chingachgook ... not peeking behind the crevice where Uncas appears to smack a Huron in the face ... not touching the ground where Magua's head pounds the earth ... not gazing out at the vista that surrounds you as Alice does ... not looking to the bottom of The Falls near where Uncas' body lay. You've got to go up there. And then at night, as Cak would say, there's always the beauty of the Cameron's Monument! See you on the Rock!
