: If you get a chance, read the book. The prose is a bit flowery and old fashioned, but in a couple of chapters, you'll be used to it. It is very different from the movie. I think its worth the effort.. I haven't read it since grammar school which is a loooooong time ago, but I am enjoying it. Besides, if it gets too bad, you can always take a page from Jo and throw the book against the wall. Give it a try.
