Speaking strictly for my little ol' self, I am responding to Rich's request for more er...ummm...*response*! I don't always get to read new additions to the site for a week or so after they go up, so I'm sometimes lagging behind a bit. I did make a point today to go to the Madeleine Stowe/Wes Studi musings & check your commentary there. I think one of the things that I have trouble with is posting a response to your thoughts when they differ substantially from mine. Normally, I agree with most of the expressed viewpoints of Mohican Press. When I don't, I am loathe to say so. Guess that's the Pisces part of me that doesn't want to disagree with a friend. But since you have expressly asked for discussion on some of these issues, here goes:
at the risk of sounding stupid, I disagree with your assessment of Madeleine Stowe's career. There. I've said it. First of all, while agreeing that LOM is the best part she's undertaken, I don't feel her career is quite as far in the dumper as you guys have placed it. I've always enjoyed her in each of her films, and while her name may not be a household word everywhere, I've yet to meet anyone who didn't know who she was. I also much preferred Unlawful Entry (which you found completely forgettable) to Blink, which I found completely farfetched.
And while I agree pretty much with your assessment of Wes Studi's talents, I don't know that I think he is more quickly recognized than Madeleine Stowe. He has a long way to go before he reaches the level of fame he probably deserves.

As for Madeleine (or anyone) doing nude scenes, while I don't know that it's a necessary part of movie-making today, I'm neither put off by it nor attracted to it. And I don't find Madeleine more apt to bare her bosom than many other actors today, including (off the top of my head) the well-respected Susan Sarandon, the well-exposed Jamie Lee Curtis, and the better-left-covered-up Glenn Close. Personally, the worst thing I can think of about Maddy's nude scenes is that it turns out her figure's not all that great. But then that's my opinion of most people when they are standing around naked as a jaybird. Clothing serves a greater purpose than just providing warmth, apparently...like hiding the fact that most of us are too fat, too thin, too bony, too curvy, too lumpy, bumpy, moley, saggy, baggy, or wrinkled to be walking around in the altogether!

Ok...that's my considered opinion on one of the more recent Musings. Does this constitue a dialog...or calumney and treason??? (It by no means detracts from my opinion that this is the best site on the internet, you understand. It is merely an acknowledgement that while we may all be LOM fans, we each have our own thoughts on other details of the whole Mohican experience.)
