A General ?

Well I have search quite awhile for the answer to the Name that General question. What I find is something similar to the quote posted, but it was not by a general. Colonel Henry Bouquet, who commanded a battalion of the 60th (Royal Americans) Regiment in 1758 under Brigadier General John Forbes, wrote "For my own part, I am so much disgusted at the backwardness of the frontier people in assisting us in taking revenge of the savages who murder them daily with impunity, that I hope this will be the last time I shall venture my reputation and life for their sake!" Consequently, it could have been his commander who also related the thoughts posted by Gayle. Or another possibility could have been Brigadier General John Stanwix who also commanded for awhile in Pennsylvania and an officer of the 60th. Forbes was commander of the 17th Regiment of Foot which served in other theaters such as Canada and New York.
