Hi, Gayle! Y'all are most welcome, I'm sure. *me, sitting on the verandah, sippin' a mint julep, and watchin' the magnolia tree start to bud* Us Southern-type folk know all about rituals and such. Sorry to confess, though, that I am one of the visitors to this board who does NOT care for Cooper's writing style. His stories are fine, but his way with words (and words, and words, and more words) leaves a lot to be desired, to my mind. I'm just grateful that his tales provided the basis for a stunning movie, no matter what changes were made to the original story. However, it just goes to show that people can find common ground & the basis for good friendships, even though they don't necessarily share all of the same likes & dislikes. It's a pleasure to hear from each person, regarding the things about the book and the movie that they especially love (or hate). As I've said before, that's why they make chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream...so there's something for everyone.
So, Gayle...any chance you can join us for The Gathering in June?
Someone with as deep a love of history as you seem to have would certainly be a welcome addition to our group! What say you?
