I agree that Uncas' part was down played because of the Hawkeye and Cora love story. He was shafted!!! Uncas and Alice could have had an even better romance if they had only let it be seen.
Instead they focused everthing on the other couple. two love stories would have been better than one. And the story between Uncas and Alice would have probably been the best. And why exactly did Uncas have to die? There really wasn't any last of the Mohicans. Their population survived. Oh well, can't win them all.
