Hi, Ros. Sorry the movie bored you. I cried for an hour after watching it. I was anything but bored. But rather than say it was a bad movie, why not just say you hated it? I hated The Incredible Lightness of Being...talk about being bored!!...but it won many awards and MUCH critical acclaim, so I have to think it was just my personal taste that found it so awful, rather than the movie being bad. When it comes to art, it is just SO subjective, isn't it? I have heard people say Mohicans was terribly unrealistic and poorly lit and yes, even badly acted. In fact, a webmistress of a BIG DDL site said Daniel's performance in it was laughable, especially his dreadful accent! I don't think that makes it a bad movie, though...just one that some folks didn't like. Every review I collected when Age came out was glowing, so the critics liked it. Though, I grant you, I certainly don't always agree with them.

But, hey, I can't be the ONLY person on this board who liked Age, can I? Someone else, ANYONE else, have a kind word to say for one of my favorite films? Yikes. I'm worried now...maybe I'm not sensitive at all, merely sappy!? I guess it's just me and the pseudointellectual film critics! (BTW, I don't automatically like all DDL films...didn't like My Beautiful Laundrette, which has developed a near cult-following, in addition to Lightness.)

Again, I'm singing "you say tomato, I say to-mah-to, you say potato, I say po-tah-to, tomato, to-mah-to, potato, po-tah-to, but we should never call the whole thing off!" Love the discussions!

Marcia
