: Hi all -
: I stumbled across this site during a search for some information about the film "Gettysburg".
: I am an avid military historian, specifically WWII and the Civil War and the Battle of Gettysburg has always fascinated me. I have toured the battlefield several times.
: I noticed that some posters below claim that Ted Turner was actually in the movie ? Where ? Who'd he play ? I realize it was just a cameo, but I missed it and I own the movie and have seen it several times.
: Anyway....what sort of site is this ? It seems to be a mix of several different topics. Am I off base here ?
: Hope to post more often, this site looks like fun. Anyone out there care to give me a quick "board" background ? Thanks for taking the time.
Welcome to our site. FYI, it is a "Last of the Mohicans" web site covering the film, the novel, history, trivia (Mohican Musings), etc .....
Pretty much anything connected to LOTM, including a photographic guide book to the film locations. You may want to go to our home page for an overview of our site's contents.
The board: A quick background? Well .............. the board is an extension to our site intended as a place for all to post messages, ask questions, discuss LOTM related topics, and have fun. As you would expect, the LOTM connection is pretty broad, therefore, it may sometimes seem to be a "mix of several different topics" ( and, no, you're not at all off base). Please feel free to post.
Gettysburg: You are not alone in your interest of the Civil War and Gettysburg in particular. We've been to many, many Civil War battlefields and historic sites, Gettysburg included. GREAT Battlefield to visit, over and over again.
Ted Turner: He can be seen (briefly) during Pickett's Charge getting shot near the wall. Just after Armistead yells "Who will come with me?" Turner is the guy who says "Let's go, boys!" and is immediately shot. Check it out.
So, again, welcome to the site and the board. It is definitely a LOTM site with a very active board. Hope this answers your questions.
