Mike...RENT IT???? RENT??? "AND YOU CALL YOURSELF A PATRIOT & LOYAL SUBJECT TO THE CROWN??!!!!" Geez, Louise!~ Buy it, for Pete's sake! I have 3 copies! ;-)

However, I must give you credit...Cora is astoundingly lovely in this film! And the sedition speech is great, what with the intensity of her feelings making her voice drop about 2 octaves, and all. Then there's the visit to Hawkeye in his cell, when her eyes just spill over with her sorrow as she insists she will find him if the fort falls...and the line, "The whole world's on fire, isn't it?" Terrific! But my absolute favorite moment for Cora, believe it or not, is when she picks up the pistol after the ambush...that's when I knew I was gonna like this gal! She was going to be a fighter!

As for Hawkeye running through the tall grass...well, in all honesty, that is how I always picture him when I'm thinking of the movie. He has many wonderful moments, but that is the most beautiful one, it's true! And then, when he finally gets to Cora, he has to kill the bad Indian not once, not twice or three times, but FOUR, count 'em, FOUR times! Whackity-whack! That'll teach those Hurons what happens if they mess with Cora!
