: According to Allen Eckert in "Wilderness Empire" the surrender was on the 9th that would make it one day, but in S. Schwartz's "The French and Indian War" he puts the surrender on the 8th. I'm not sure who's right. Most agree that the massacre happened on the 10th. I had a cousin (Great-Great,etc of course!) who was taken captive at W-H
and escaped by a very clever method. I'll check the dates in the family history to get the correct date.
