I agree with you that Wes Studi should have won an Oscar for his performance. I was completely spellbound during the scene with Sachem, I think that's my favorite 'Magua' part. The speaking was so fast, with subtitles, not lagging at all. The excitement was intense. Magua's sarcasm and DDL's criticism of Magua - I even gained a respect for Heywood, when he failed to translate "exactly" what DDL said and sacrificed himself. I always thought he did that because he knew that the only way Cora was going to be saved was with Hawkeye as her guide out of there. It was a great scene.
