: Actually, I'm surprised that anyone thought they heard something else. You've got it spot on, and it never struck me as one of the difficult lines to interpret ;-)
In defense of everyone who has trouble hearing certain lines, let me say that I have discovered that the sounds in this film vary HUGELY from tv set to tv set. We have already discussed how I never heard words from Uncas in the scene under the falls (and I've watched this film over 100 times)...my surround sound water fall is just too loud for dialog to fight with when he grabs Alice back from the edge. It wasn't until I heard the film on regular tv that I could make out the "Get back!" that Myrrh & others had always heard. I have since realized that when I adjust the surround sound, turning down the background sounds & turning up the dialog sounds (these are on different speakers with surround sound) I can hear dialog much more clearly. Not everyone has this capability. I don't usually do it, either, as the sounds of battle & waterfalls are what make the film so realistic. (In a real battle, one wouldn't be able to mute the sound of the cannon, after all...one would have to shout & hope to be heard.)
In short, what may sound crystal clear on one sound system may be considerably distorted or muffled on another. "... clear it up any?"
