: Doesn't look like anyone is posting anymore, so I'll just give the answer. The British column was a composite force made up of elements of the 4th (King's Own), 23rd (Royal Welch Fusiliers), and the 42nd (Black Watch). The numbered slightly less than 800.

I'd appreciate it if you could e-mail me with the name/author/etc. of the book you mentioned concerning British regimental history. I would like to see if it is available for borrow through the inter-library loan system here in Michigan, or failing that, if it be of substantial merit (I'll rely on your opinion here) available through purchase.
