: "Tight Weave"????? Are we watching the same movie? I have seen LOM ...oh...100 times or so and this rings no bell at all! "tight Weave"????? I guess I need to get the video out and watch it another time! What scene is this in?
Tsk,tsk, Gretchen! And "you call yourself a patriot & loyal subject to the crown!!!" ;o) The scene is when Hawkeye is covering the courier leaving the fort to make a run through to Webb. He is loading several muskets, and Uncas asks him, "tight weave?" referring to the linen strip he uses in the musket (you will need technical stuff here, as to what the use of it is, but If you will remember from the infirmary scene, he goes in & cuts a piece of linen bandage from the supplies.) He replies to Uncas something like "another 4 yards" I think. I guess (here it gets technical again) the fabric being a tighter weave extends the range of the musket ball...is that right, Rich? And then, no more talking from Uncas!
To be fair, Gretchen, it IS a little hard to understand, and I'm still not sure how many yards Hawkeye says it will add.
