: Tried and hanged?? Has the notion of innocent until proven guilty not taken root yet? Isn't this a bit harsh? He's already made up his mind he'll be hanged, why not just dispense with the trial and cut to the chase?

Hi Myrrh,
It is interesting that in Munro's mind, DDL was already convicted and was just waiting for the hangman's noose. Even Cora when she visited him in jail says "they are going to hang you."
Whatever happened to a fair trial? Its to funny considering that we basically got most of our legal system from jolly old England including the part "innocent unless proved guilty" ...Lynne
