Am I nuts, or does Alexandria greet Chingachgook as "Uncle" as she takes his hand when he steps onto the porch? If so, this might explain a lot. There may have been some familial ties, adoptive if not blood ties. Maybe I'm hearing it wrong. According to the script, Alexandria doesn't have a line here, but she definitely says something.
