: Please don't shoot me with a virtual reality musket:o) but ever since watching LOTM, I've wondered why DDL took on the role of Hawkeye. Being non-american, why wasn't he intimidated by the fact that "Last of the Mohicans" is considered the first bonafide American novel and therefore its hero the lst fictional AMERICAN hero???....any thoughts?.......ann

Hi, Ann...pardon me whilst I aim my virtual reality musket in your general DI-rection...hehe. I can only say one thing:
Daniel Day-Lewis appears to be a man who is not easily intimidated by much at all. Hawkeye was certainly not his most challenging role by a long shot, American hero or not. To paraphrase Alice, have you SEEN the Irishman...in his other guises, that is?
