Hi Ann and Ayesha,
"A World Apart" would probably be in the drama section. It plays in South Africa during the time of apartheid, Jodhi May plays a school girl of maybe 12 years or so, who tries to get a grasp of what is happening around her. Her parents are getting more and more entangled into the political situation, her father changing from happily living the white middle/upper class life and career to actively supporting dissidents, and to eventually being on the run himself. Jodhi as the child is the observer and she feels lonely and abandoned by her parents, whom she blames for causing unpleasant changes in her life when white society lets her feel how they think about her father's activism. Only gradually, she begins to understand why he had to do what he did.
It's good, I can definitely recommend it. Don't know the year of the release, though, my guess would be around '87 maybe.
