I'll vote with you, JC. That was a marvelous opening to the movie. Maybe I was the only one dense enough to be led totally unsuspectingly through it by Mann, but I didn't have any idea whether they were after Indians, fleeing from Indians, or what, until I saw the elk get hit. At that point, I was stunned by Mann's cleverness and simply thrilled by the magnificence of the whole sequence. I loved it!
