Hi, Kathy...I believe you are agreeing with Carin's post here, rather than mine. I actually don't agree with Carin's assessment of Duncan at all. I don't see Duncan as anything more than a product of his times and upbringing. I think he was a man of honor, through and through...his honor was just a tad misplaced, perhaps, as he really didn't have a clue what life in the colonies was all about. He had been taught to put the interests of the Crown above all, and so he did...for awhile. Then he began, too late, to understand a bit of what was happening there. And, BTW, any man who would volunteer to be burned alive in place of another can hardly be called selfish in my book.
