An interesting view; I always thought Alice was looking around her as if she didn't know/couldn't figure out where she was; couldn't believe she was yet on the trail again; and was completely at a loss as to where she was; what to do; where she was going; where does this trail go to...until she saw Uncas...which bought a bit of reality to the moment.
Don't want to start up any further discussions; just my opinion.
