: I have read Cuneo's bio of him and Robert's "Northwest Passage." He is one of the most tragic of American heros. The description of his incarceration and transport from Michilimackinac is one of the most excruciating things I've ever read. The British civilized? Not! Then that was followed by Gage's and Amherst's ruination of him financially and psychologically. His letters to his wife are as touching as Montcalm's to his.

: Read about this person!

I MUST second Victoria's urging. Cuneo's bio is out of print, unfortunately, but a revised journal of Rogers' and Bouquet's is due out soon. This one should have more footnotes and historical info.
