: : Dear Le Montcalm,
: Are you too busy preening in your re-found greatness as a moral man who did not sell Hawkeye and Uncas and Gray Hair to Avenging Angel Magua, that you can not utter a peep re. the shady shenanigans of the Dutch and French Traders?
: These Mean and Shady Partners in Crime are doing an excellent job profiting from the Foo-Foo-Doper-War while the rest of us are still laughing so hard that we can't even dress our proudly earned war-wounds...
: Mon cher Montcalm, please join in the fray!
: And I would like to hear Hawkeye's opinion on that matter, too. perhaps he can give us his opinion in the complex relationship of Uncas and Alice... after all he was right there, an eyewitness,...
: I just received a load of goods from the Store on the Frontier... excellent material! The earrings are superbly crafted, the dreamcatchers are authentic 1757s, and the Guide Book is excellent material what with all its wonderful photographs and spot markings and text to place under your pillow and thus assist you in dream-catching.
: I believe that Store on the Frontier needs runners and towncriers to promote these offerings...
: Can you not suggest that both esteemed Traders make trading with the Frontier Store part of their trade agenda?
Cher Mademoiselle Uncas Dreamer,
I offer my apologies if my silence on these rival traders has offended you. However, I am a busy homme,... non homme d'affaires!
Or do you mistake me for Le Bigot et Gov-General Vaudreuil?
But, since you ask ... I think the French and Dutch Traders are most innovative and should be commended. Shady deals? Pshaw!!!
That's the nature of trade during war time. As long as they starve no coloniales, who cares?
The Store On The Frontier ... Oui, they should both strike a deal to do business with that esteemed establishment. Runners could be had for next to nothing. I will talk with both of them and show them the advantages of such a deal.
Hawkeye ... Ah! There is much talk about La Longue Carabine. I understand he didn't think Mademoiselle Alice was "right" for his Loup brother. There has been rumors that the entire tragedy at the Huron village was staged by La Longue Carabine to rid himself of some snooty anglaise named Duncan, as well as Mademoiselle Alice. We do not know for sure, eh?
Some say Uncas was not expected to run ahead to do battle with mon ami Magua but he was supposed to be distracted by mirrors ... tools ... clothes of the Huron. C'est la vie!
