Dear S.,
I have not been able to follow the whole Board. You mean you've already read the Deerslayer?
Interestingly, a little while ago I remembered (believe it or not!) that I have read The Last of the Mohicans 35 years ago... Uh-hum. Now my age is exposed.
Well, I've read it in German, while attending the Austrian H.S. in Istanbul. I do not remember a single word of it. Not even when I browsed it online courtesy of R & E. Here may lay the roots of my amnesia, for I don't like to remember my H.S. days. I just wanted to write love poems and novels and not study math and calculus (what a waste of time! Yeechhh!)and these Liebe Schwesters were always spying on me to prevent me from reading dog-eared copies of Karl May as well as James Fenimore Cooper novels... and Jane Eyre... If I jiggle my brains some more, I might dish out some more de-ja-vus, like having read The Deerslayer as well.
I believe what made us fall in love with LOTM were Michael Mann and DDL and Uncas and Duncan rather than Fenimore's prose.
The chatroom chat is a good idea.
Tell me which book we are going to start chatting about, post the date of the chat, and I will check out the local library to do my homework.
Yes, what kind of a wampum can we loot, and from where, to pay rent to the chat-room owners?
