Dear TTTotally CCConfused MMMarcia,

I don't blame you - this is one of the more intriguing titles in bookdom and impossible to speculate on if you haven't read the book. Wish Ton Wish is the name of the property of the Quaker family. Their daughter Ruth is captured by Indians at about the age of 8 and is discovered years later, married to an Indian chief, the mother of his child and totally reluctant to return to the white world. All their failures and all their most grievous losses are symbolized by Ruth and her story, and thus her tombstone reads only "The Wept of Wish Ton Wish".
