Now that you've brought it up, here's another of those sticky questions so dear to feminine hearts - - just for the sake of hashing it about a bit- - -

We of the female persuasion get all thorny about these non-communicative male-types who don't seem capable of thinking beyond who made the last touchdown or whether the car brakes need relining. We fantasize a man who will sit down and discuss THINGS THAT REALLY COUNT - who will share his innermost feelings about OUR RELATIONSHIP and THE MEANING OF LIFE and stuff like that.

However, when Natty Bumppo turns up as a hero who thinks deeply about all sorts of things and willingly and generously shares his feelings on everything from the decimation of the Indian tribes to his concept of Heaven, suddenly nobody wants to listen - we get all huffy and wish he would stuff a rag in it now and then. Is this not a sensitive, caring man who truly wants to communicate his feelings to a sympathetic listener? What happened to all the cries of I-Want-A-Man-Who-Will-Talk-To-Me?

(Here's where I usually sit back with a grin and watch the Board explode. This is SO much fun!)
