: Hate to sound stupid but -- who is "Uncle Wiscone"? Thanks.

: Sarah

: Sarah,

: This question does beg to be answered, does it not? Way back when, or, once upon a time there was a Mohicanland citizeness named Mary. Mary had no little lamb, but she did possess a peculiar knack for hearing things differently than the rest of the townsfolk. Mary was, well ... different.

: At any rate, Mary had quite the imagination. She swears that Major Heyward sent Hawkeye & Cora packing from the Huron village as he was being 'dressed' for his barbecue because of aching feet. "My corns hurt, sir. Take her and get out." That's what Mary said he said.
: And while the rest of Mohicanland's citizens knew that large Mohican at Cameron's Cabin was Ongewasgone, Mary INSISTS his name is 'Uncle Wiscone' ..... And she adds to this; "HE ate the missing horse."

: You may be wondering whatever became of citizeness Mary .... she decided to utilize her unique listening skills to "help people" who suffer from Mohicanitis. She connived General Webb to put up his family fortune to finance her business plan. Voila! She's now Dr. Mary ... Queen of Quackery.

: And that's how Uncle Wiscone came to be.

: Now, we must figure out this Mr. Otto Mani's origins and schemes.

Elaine,

Thanks for that. And so that's where Dr. Mary came from, too.

At least she heard "Uncle Wiscone" rather than "Ongewasgone". I never heard either. Does somebody actually say his name? When? Who? I'm amazed. This is clearly one for the growing "What did they say?" list.

Cheers,
Sarah
