:Oh no! I'm meeting up with an out-of-town friend tomorrow because we've sworn to make a mutual pilgrimage to see this movie. "Lethal Musket???" Somebody please tell me it's not that bad!

In all fairness, Doc M has not seen The Patriot, and probably
: never will, but this review that she saw on the website
: Rotten Tomatoes made her snort in her coffee...

: "During the shopping two hour and 44 minute running time
: of The Patriot, my mood shifted repeatedly. Early on, I found
: the oh-so-perfect picture postcard ligting of every single
: damn scene so maddening that I leaned to a friend and growled,
: 'I hate this movie!' Then a juicy battle scene reinvigorated
: my fading spirits...But just as I was ready to surrender to
: the story's rah-rah momentum, the filmmakers threw in a series
: of hero-charging-forward-waving-the-flag-in-slow-motion images
: so cheesy that I wanted to scream, 'Run for your lives --
: they've remade The Postman!'"

: From what I've read about the movie, the thing that would
: irritate me the most is turning the most interesting and
: complex period of our history into Lethal Musket. Maybe
: someday somebody like Ken Burns will do for the Revolution
: what he did for the Civil War. I keep my gnarly old fingers
: crossed in hope.
