Hi Clabert,

Thanks for sharing your friend's perspective. Sometimes when we hear only negative reviews, we may miss a film that does have some enlightening qualities.

We usually try to go to the movies with no expectations. With great expectations, there is bound to be disappointment. At least now, we won't expect the worst!! There are many films that have given us our history lessons in an enchanting manor, even though the "truth" be a bit stretched!

All the best,

Ayesha

: I just got this from a friend of mine on another list. Here are his thoughts.

: I normally don't weigh in much on the list but I felt I would share my
: comments which may be from a different perspective. Being a twenty one year
: veteran of the US Army I liked the movie for one reason above it's
: historical and story flaws, that reason is that it brings to the "history
: challenged" public a story from the beginning of our Army and our country
: that shows something about the struggle of what it took to breath life into
: the revolution and what it took to carry it through. I find it hard to put
: into words, but I was glad to see something just anything that showed how
: our country came to be, too many have forgotten.

: I know much of the movie was made up Hollywood storyland but to sit in the
: theater and hear some of the comments was impressive. I heard people
: talking about the Revolution who until they saw the movie, had probably
: never thought about it. Sure the movie had problems, are we every going to
: properly educate someone through Hollywood? NO. Shoot, we are having enough
: problems educating people through our education system, given political
: correctness and revisionist history lessons. If the movie has one positive,
: it got people to think about a subject they probably never would have, that
: I appreciate.
