: Hello all:
: I’m sitting here at work with nothing much to do on the Fourth, part of me wishing I was at home reading or cooking out...but I’ve decided to try a new approach to reflect what I’m thankful about:
: I don’t want to be at work today, but at least I live in a country where I am free to pick my own career and come and go as I please.
: I’ve been tired of hearing all the folks here in South Carolina yelling and bickering back and forth about the Confederate flag, but at least I live in a country where we are free to have these differences of opinion.
: I’ve had a difficult year, dealing with bereavement and job pressures, but at least I live in a country where I can freely travel to see friends and family and revel in their love, some of whom have come here from as far away as Singapore, Australia and Russia to enjoy our freedoms. I am thankful for the richness of friends that I have discovered throughout my life...and here on the Internet.
: Sometimes the priest at my church rambles on during his sermon, but at least I live in a country where I can choose to worship as I please.
: I am a rare thing -- a Generation X child of a World War II veteran. But I am eternally thankful for my father’s deciding at 17 to go fight in the Pacific Theater. The decision he made -- and that countless others made as far back as the Revolution -- is one I doubt I could have made.
: Today I’m not out at the lake, or the beach, or in the backyard, but I am one thing. I am thankful.
: I hope you all have a wonderful, peaceful and blessed Fourth...

Lovely thoughts, Christina! And so true. We have SO many blessings that we often take for granted. Good for you for giving voice to so many of them.

Enjoy the day, no matter where you are! Happy 4th!
MMMMarcia & My Lovely Friend, Miss Katie O' Arbroath! (Soon to be BACK in Arbroath...waaaaaaah!!! But taking a leaf from YOUR book, Christina, I shall just be thankful that I got her for three whole weeks, rather than whinge because it's time for her to go back, now!)
