: Well, sad I am to be hearin' unpleasant things about a poor lass' first attempt at showin' hospitality! Why, I would never cast a wayward eye at Mr. Magua. I've heard he belongs to Ms. Ros and I'd never be disrespectin' her! However, if any lonely Toms, Dicks or especially Nathaniels should be out wanderin' beneath the stars on this glorious Fourth, it would necessarily behoove both me Scottish upbringing and my Carolina hospitality to offer him a wee dram. I'd hoped that nice Hawkeye who'd helped me with my back problems earlier this month would show up...but someone said Doc Mary had him "otherwise employed" this evening. Now who would make a nice man like that work on the Fourth??? Anyway, Miss Marcia and Sheriff Twigg, I do hope you'll drop by soon. Not only do I have the Glenlivet ,I've also whipped up a fresh haggis and some Scottish shortbread!

My Dear Red,

(I DO hope you don't mind my calling you by your first name after such a brief acquaintance? In Mohicanland, folks come and go so quickly it behooves us to become friendly right off the bat, as they say!)

Thank you SEW much for the invitation to partake of some Scottish goodies with you, Lass. I'd purely LOVE to taste a wee bit of that shortbread you folk are so famous for. If it's as good as I expect, mayhap you & I can work out an agreement for you to supply my Famous DownHome Kitchen with more of it for my loyal clientele?

As for haggis, I hear it makes wonderful catfish bait, and I love it when catfish is on the menu, so I might take a bit of that, too, if you can cut it into small, fish-bite-size morsels for me.

Then there's the Glenlivet. Miss Marcia doesn't really drink, bein' as how it's so unladylike, doncha know...but I've had a touch o' rheumatiz in my joints during this damp weather, so I might be talked into a nip or two for purely medicinal reasons.

Anyhooooo...I'd love to drop by and get to know you a bit, Red, and was wonderin' whether this afternoon might be a good time. I could bring along my good friend, Miss Katie O'Arbroath, as well. Miss Katie runs our Mohicanland Quilt Shoppe, and does some beautiful stitchery which is much admired here in the village. Perhaps you would enjoy a good natter with someone else from your part of the world? Send me a note via carrier pigeon to let me know if this is okay. I'm looking forward to a nice visit with you!

Yours Most Graciously,
Miss Marcia
