: : On the other hand, DDL, a great actor who fits any mold like a one-size-fits-all glove to a hand...OK, to be frank and to great risk to my person as I admit this: I did see several other films, I did admire him as an actor, but perhaps due to the nature of the character he played... all right all right, here is another ripe tomato being shot in my direction... well, I'd like to date Hawkeye, but would not like to date his other characters....

:
: I've seen several of DDL's other films (currently 'The Boxer' is one of the only major ones I haven't seen yet.) Let's see...I'd have dated Newland Archer if he could have gotten over the tormented moral thing. I thought his character was elegantly tormented...in that movie I thought Winona Ryder was the agent of evil (disagree with me if you will, but her character made my skin crawl...)....I would have considered dating his character in "In the Name of the Father" after he got out of jail. (it's the tormented Irish thing....) "The Crucible" --he would have been cute if he'd shaved but he was a little too odd and tormented for me. "Unbearable Lightness of Being..." nope. "Room with a View." nope. I think of all his characters "In the Name..." and "mohicans" most accurately showed sides of his character. I truly loved "Age..." but it depressed me so horribly I don't think I could ever watch it again!

I hated "The Age of Innocence" the first time I saw it. I felt like I'd spent two hours in a tight corset. However, once I got over the desire to scream obsenities at Newland and shake some sense into his silly head, I got lost in the elegance of the whole movie, and have watched it with pleasure a number of times.
As for dating Dear Daniel's leading men, what about Johnny in ... (a GGGG moment: what's the Ivory/Merchant film?? Marcia, help!)... oh, yes, "My Beautiful Laundrette" or the lead in "Stars and Bars?"
:o)
