: : At last, someone that agrees with me. The boy just can't do comedy. How anybody can be so unfunny in a movie with Harry Dean Stanton, Glenn Headley, Martha Plimpton, Joan Cuzack, and Lori Metcalf is beyond me. NS.

: Well, NightSky, I think most people would agree with that. Of the ones I've talked to, only Emily & Kevin & I found him to be very funny in it. (I believe it was Carol who said she'd rather clean toilets with her tongue than be forced to watch it again!)
: But I thought he did well, though not nearly as well as he does at intense drama, of course. And he's positively deliciously funny as Cecil Vyse in Room With a View. Though Cecil is one of those who doesn't THINK he's being funny.

: However, to Chris I must say that though I liked Stars & Bars, I was really falling off the sofa laughing at Eversmile. Just the concept of a traveling dentist on a motorcycle in Patagonia, bringing dental health to the masses (?) cracks me up. He was a "Man with a Mission," and too funny! But, I can certainly see where that would not be a type of comedy for everyone. You really have to have an off-the-wall viewpoint to appreciate it, I think.

: But still...nothing compares to LOTM! It has it all, doesn't it?

: MMMM

Wow. I'm a writer for a living and I frequently have to review things and I have strong opinions (check out posts elsewhere on this board i.e. The Patriot, Perfect Storm...) but I don't think I have ever come up with an image quite as succinct as Carol's "she would rather clean toilets with her tongue than see it again..." That just about says it all, dontcha think???? ;-)
