Welcome to the board! If my memory serves me correctly (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong), Michael Mann brought back some of the cast months after shooting had been finished in order to reshoot some scenes. One being the scene where Uncas looks longingly at Alice at the Riverwalk. Thus the earring got switched. Terribly memory these movie people have sometimes....
