Last Wednesday my friends and I decided to do some sight-seeing
in our own backyard,so to speak. We went to South Street Seaport,
which we weren't particularly impressed with, when we found ourselves
standing in front of a guided map to all points of interest in Manhattan. Why the whole island is one big tourist trap! No matter how long you live here you can always find something you didn't know was right in front of you, and sure enough right across the street from Battery Park was the National Museum of the American Indian-Smithsonian Institute.

There was more to see than time to take it all in. Those responsible
for putting together the exhibits where from the different Nations of the Original People. What a wealth of information! One of the many exhibits I was awed by was seeing the buckskin shirts of Crazy Horse and Spotted Tail and the time and care they take to teach of their way of life and the changes in life-styles that have caused them to realize the importants of not only teaching their own childern but all people of their way of life.

Anyone living in the area or making a trip to NYC, should make this Museum a must see! Oh and did I mention, IT'S FREE! ENJOY!!

Stay Strong with Love, Kathleen
