: : : Dear 'Red',

: : : Hmmm, 'honourably' employed?? Well, if you SAY so... but I wouldn't like to think you were giving us Scots lasses a bad name!! 'Sally Free And Easy', I AIN'T!!!

: : : However, I am not above partaking of a little shortbread, or Dundee cake, and a wee whisk.. 'Irn Bru', while engaging in the age old custom of 'welcoming the new girl'.

: : : A toast - Here's to us - 'Wha's Like Us? Damn Few and They're A' Deid'...

: : : Miss Katie (of 'Miss Katie's Quilt Shoppe'- just a wee plug, dontcha know!)

: : Well, howdy-do, Miss Katie! How's tricks (pahdon the expression) over to the Quilt Shoppe these days? I do hope y'all are keepin' busy, a-stichin' and a-patchin'. I heard you were plannin' to drop by the Huron Happy Hour at Bumppo's Tavern tonight to help welcome the Red-Haired Lass to our fine community. Now, you KNOW I'm not a Tavern kinda gal, bein' very RE-fined and genteel and such. However, I think it would be extremely rude of me not to join the welcoming party for a wee nip or six. So, I'll just stir up a big ol' platter of my Famous DownHome Fuu-uuuuuudge and a basket of crispy squirrel fritters for munchin' on with our drinks, toss on my newest posh frock, and stop by your place about 8:00, so we can walk over together. (I'd be way too timid to go in the front door of that type of establishment without a friend to help bolster my courage, doncha know.)

: : Hope this meets with your approval.

: : Yours Most Graciously,
: : Miss Marcia

: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

: Now, Miss Marcia,

: 'That sounds like a plan' as they say around these parts! Yes, DO put on your poshest frock. We don't get many chances to socialise in this little community - we best make the best of it!! Now, a plate of crispy squirrel fritters sounds just tickety boo, Miss!! And perhaps we can persuade that nice Miss Adele to accompany us with a big basket of her 'pork scratchin's'! Now that is something that the English do well!!

: Oh no, Miss!! I KNOW you are not a one for 'sittin' in Bumppo's!! Why your reputation in this regard, goes (way!) before you!! It's so far before you, you ain't even STARTED OUT yet!! Sorry, I digress! I understand your reluctance to go into Bumppo's unaccompanied. Well, there IS a certain 'rough' element resides there! (That Yengeese Strumpet, for one! *her and her House of Hoo-Haa! Huh! *Huuuumph*!)

: However, as pillars of the community, it behooves us to provide a warm welcome to those displaced persons from the 'mother country' and let them know that they can 'ply their trade' with every confidence that those of us on the MohicanLand Traders' Association will help, where help is needed. Ain't that so, Miss?!

: Yes, 8:00am - beg pardon! 8:00*PM* will do nicely, Miss. That should give us ample time to quaff one or two, well... perhaps 6 or 10, little drinkie poo's and get into the *spirit* of the occasion. Of course, it is your DE-liiiiciiious platter of fudge, not to mention the Dundee cake, that draws me to this social event...

: Looking forward to walking (at a good pace, of course, so as not to be late!!) over to Bumppo's with you,
: Your humbly, obedient servant,
: Well, your friend,
: Miss Katie (of Miss Katie's Quilt Shoppe).

Why dear Miss Katie, thank you SO much for your kind invitation to join you and the sweet Miss Marcia for a wee nip of brandy at Bumppos. I would be happy to meet you at 8.00 and would be delighted to trade some pork scratchings for some of Miss Marcias Delicious Fudge!

Until later then!

Miss Adele
