Proof positive that Mohicanland causes all sorts of cultural experiences...through coming to Mohicanland, reading the selections in the bookstore and through the careful encouragement of some fellow Mohicanlanders (Miss MMMMMar-cia, stand up and take a bow) I FINALLYread Charles Frazier’s “Cold Mountain” earlier this summer. Loved the book so much I went searching for related material and found...
“Songs from the Mountain,” featuring musician Tim O’Brien and a bevy of others. Performing traditional and a few original fiddle, mandolin and banjo tunes inspired by Frazier’s heart-rending novel and the North Carolina mountains! Absolutely beautiful, haunting music that you will not forget and that most definitely fits in the CD player when driving in LOTM territory. Rousing, fun ballads like “Jack of Diamonds” to emotional, wrenching hymns like “Wayfaring Stranger.” It hasn’t left my CD player since I got it on Sunday. MUCH recommended for all those who love traditional mountain music and/or the LOTM/Cold Mountain terrain. Not to be missed...Can be ordered through Amazon.com.
