: : : : : I didn't exactly find him sexy, but he does have unusual eyes.  I believe that Montcalm sympathised with Magua and understood Magua's reasons for wanting revenge on Monroe.  Obviously he couldn't give his approval for the attack, so it was more or less an unspoken agreement between the two men.  I always thought that the friendship between Montcalm an Magua added a new deminsion to the character of Magua...less of a vicious warrier and more a tortured soul.  Does that sound weird?

: : : : I think Montcalm was too slick to think of Magua as a friend.  Montcalm was all business.  I think he just took advantage of Magua's hate for Monroe to win the battle for the fort with the least amount of bloodshed to his own men.  I think his eyes were very cold.  Shimmery.  Icey.

: I watched the parts of the film with Montcalm and Magua again and keeping your comments in mind, found myself suddenly seeing our French general in a new light.  And as for his eyes...you are absolutely right...they're spooky.
