: : I've just finished reading the ERic Sweig interview (in great detail!) and wondered if anybody knew what ES was up to these days, has he been in any recent movies????.

: Hi Kate,

: Eric's latest movie is called Big Eden, but I'm not sure if it's been picked up for distribution yet. There is a website for the movie at: www.bigeden.com/home.html

mY, AM i AN OLD PRUDE!!!
My earlier post crashed my computer and got lost in cyber space...
but ah I m so determined to post...
I went to the above url; yes like many people, I do love the Uncas Character. Well, in this new story line, E.S. is trailblazing, so to speak. Unless I misread the story, he falls in love with Henry, and even cooks for him... hmmm. 2 questions. Is he, as a straight male, pushing the limits of his talent to see how convinclingly he can act a man falling in love with a man? Or is he coming out of the closet, so to speak?
Either way, he certainly is being brave... I suppose. I remember the shock I felt when Rock Hudson's preferences were revealed. I certainly do not believe being 'gay' or 'straight' makes for a better human being. No matter what our preferences, we are human first. Alas though, E.S is typecast in my mind as the strong but silent hero who falls in love with Alice, and I can not go to a movie and watch him fall in love with HENRY. So, he certainly is widening his horizon as an actor, proving his versatility and surely many of his female fans will go watch him in a role where he falls in love with Henry. And some, will not. Well, as I've said again, unless I have misread the storyline, he has dared embark a new path. I wish him luck.
