: : : : : : : : What about loincloths? I'm about a week old on this board, so who wants to bring me up to date?

: : : : : : : : What are loincloths anyway? They can't be those legging things the Indians wore, since the loins is the lower torso, right?

: : : : : : : : Thanks,
: : : : : : : : LSK

: : : : : : : Hi Linda,

: : : : : : : I'll try to answer your question. The loin cloth is comprised of two square pieces of material, one worn at front and one at back and attached at the waist. Underneath is worn the breechclout (breechcloth...help guys I've seen it written both ways), which seems to vary in width. I'm not sure of the exact way both articles were done up at the waist....I'll defer to the experts on frontier clothing to answer the technical stuff.

: : : : : : : I guess the joke about loin cloths is that so many of us females go a little dippy thinking about all those studly guys running around in the film wearing little else than the loin cloths.

: : : : : : : Now if the men in our lives really wanted to get our attention.....

: : : : : : : ...Jeri

: : : : : : ------------------
: : : : : : Pure unadulterated lust.... and how they show off those derrières... ;-)
: : : : : : caitlin

: : : : : And what lovely derrieres they are!

: : : : What's the joke about loincloths? Hmmm...depends on who's wearin' em.
: : : : Dana S.

: : : ~~~~~~~~~~~

: : : Now Dana, on this site, loincloths are no joke at all. Even the ones that are bad are like car wreaks, you just can't keep from slowing down to look.

: : : And where's Diana? Her loincloth radar must be down! NS

: : ----------------------

: : HA! Now, that was a good one Dana! :-)
: : Seriously though, I find lioncloths far too underated... or is it that they aren't underated enough? ;-D
: : Nothing like a strong wind to catch ones fancy....
: : caitlin

: Lioncloths? Hmmmm. A whole new breed, perhaps??? Personally,
: I don't want the wind to catch anyone's fancy... I prefer
: all my fancies in perfect working order, thank YEW!!

The joke about loincloths? For some of us, m'dear, there is NO joke. Nothin', I mean nothin', is more serious to me than a loincloth and what might be in it...witness the worn out rewind button on yonder VCR and the frayed edges of the "loincloth" scenes in my video copy of The Film.
And as you've noticed, hardly ANYTHING generates a plethora of replies to a message on this board like the exalted loincloth.
I have even paid tribute to it and its exalted brethren in male clothing, the kilt, in verse (see above post)
